United
Way of Greater Toronto
United Way's neighbourhoods strategy targets Toronto's high
poverty inner-suburban neighbourhoods, with a specific emphasis
on 13 neighbourhoods that are the most in need due to population
and lack of available infrastructure.
The T.R. Meighen Family Foundation has made a commitment
to fund a major youth engagement initiative in two of our
priority neighbourhoods over the next three years. Meaningful
engagement of youth in community is a crucial starting point
in the development of our young people into participative
and productive citizens.
CAMH Foundation
The T. R. Meighen Family Foundation made an early and significant
campaign gift of $1 million to CAMH's Child, Youth &
Family Program, in support of CAMH's site redevelopment
project. Currently, the program offers various services
and treatments at different CAMH sites. This can make it
confusing and difficult for young people and their families
to seamlessly access services, and can limit the interaction
between researchers, clinicians and clients. This gift will
improve the lives of at-risk youth with mental health and
addiction problems by delivering state-of-the art centralized
care at CAMH's new redeveloped site.
L.O.V.E. Halifax
Leave Out ViolencE is a unique long-term violence-prevention
and intervention youth program. Victims, witnesses and perpetrators
of violence undertake multi-media and leadership training
to develop the positive life-skills, sense of community,
as well as the critical thinking that enables youth to analyze
causes of, and alternatives to, violence. Through LOVE,
youth see the impact they have on others: they choose to
use their voices and to educate themselves, their peers
and our communities.
